Sunday 6/26 from 1-4pm.
Bring your favorite sketching supplies or on the go medium, a chair if desired, and pack a snack.
This workshop in the gorgeous environs of the peaceful grounds of Cave Hill Cemetery has it all. Landscape and it’s botanical offerings. The geometry of the tombstones and markers. Architecture and it’s perspective challenge in the crypts and their layouts. The tonal challenge of the interplay of light and shadows. Figurative study in the sculptural monuments. And a contemplative setting free of the hustle and bustle of an urban hub. We’ll work on choosing a scene, drawing a preliminary layout, blocking in primary shapes and masses with tone, and developing the descriptive contours and detail. Some goals will be to broaden your range of values, play with a range of textures, and expand the role of contour variation.
Please dress and conduct yourself appropriately for an extended outdoor session in one of the country’s most gracious memorial settings.
All skill levels welcome. As long as you can hold a pencil in yer teeth, yer toes, fingers or yer
nose, we’ll get it done and have a grand time together.
Be sure to include your phone number and email at registration to ensure we can communicate meet up areas on location before event.
